Challah is a braided Jewish ritual bread traditionally served on Shabbat (the sabbath) and holidays. For me, making challah on Fridays acts as a meditative practice, an exercise in re-centering after a hectic week to get into the restful spirit of shabbat and switch gears. Every-so-often, I return to challah braiding, shaping, and baking, as part of my creative practice. Included here are a few samples of challah-centric work from the last 6 years.
