Challah is a braided Jewish ritual bread traditionally served on Shabbat (the sabbath) and holidays. For me, making challah acts as a meditative practice, an exercise in re-centering. Over the years I’ve returned to challah as a medium many times, using the dough as a material for object-making, and hosting workshops on mindfulness and sustainability through the lens of baking. Included here are a few samples of challah-centric work from the last 10 years.
